Elephant Lite Corporation, the manufacturers of "Laxapana" Torch & Transistor Batteries were aquired by E.B. Creasy & Co., Ltd. After the aquisition, Darley Butler & Co., Ltd re-launched the brand and increased its market share from 8% - 35% within two years.

Furthermore, Laxapana Battery range was extended further with the introduction of the penlite batteries in 1999 which is imported from William Electric & Battery Co., Ltd, China.

In April 1999, the brand was further strengthened by the launch of Clear Bulbs & Tube Lamps. These bulbs are imported from Surya Rohini Ltd, India, which is the largest bulb manufacturer in India with ISO 9000 certification.

In the year 2000, Metal Jacket "D" size batteries and Energy Saving Lamps (CFL) were introduced to the market as well.

In August 2001, 2cell & 3cell plastic torches were introduced in order to further strengthen the brand.
